“Our BUVs are working really good, we have had not mechanical problems at all; one of the them is been used at the construction department carrying cinder blocks, sand, cement tools etc; plumbers love it for its fast and easy moving around. The other BUV has been used for the agriculture department; the cowboys use it for transporting milk from the corral to the selling point, to transport fencing posts barbed wire agriculture supplies and vegetables from the garden to the store. I think the engine is powerful enough for what we need.”
Jose Mondragon, Ranch Manager, Honduras Outreach Inc.
“The Basic Utility Vehicle has been unbelievably convenient, and it has been in constant use since its arrival. We have used it for moving people, fertilizer, seed, and fruit and vegetables. When we have a vehicle down, it is an easy way to get from one side of the township (my house) to the other (the orphanage), which is just under two miles. … The African people are completely intrigued by this thing. Most of their freight moving is done with scotch carts, which are powered by a person pulling or pushing the thing. Putting a simple motor on it is very appealing to the Africans. I think there is a substantial market niche here for the BUV.”
Kevin Fry, Eden Childrens Village, Zimbabwe
“…There are lots of snake bites and injuries in this area, so one of the main requests they have is for a vehicle to get them to some advanced medical care. A motor bike is the only form of transportation that is available, and bus service does not even get there. After traveling these roads, I cannot imagine pedaling 50 miles on a bicycle one direction to get help for someone ill, injured or pregnant, only to return finding the person had died. Augustin told me that at times they had to tie the sick person onto him to transport them, often to find they were dead when they arrived at the medical facility.”
“I am so convinced that funding ministry through enterprise is the long-term solution. Everyday we hear “what you are about is what we have been praying about for years.”
David Ketchum, Mission Resource Int’l, Ghana
“With the B.U.V. we will be able to reach areas of the ‘bush’ that really need to hear the Gospel as well as the demonstrated love of Christ through health care. It will begin open up doors to hearts as they see we are willing and desire to minister to them in the areas that take more time and are difficult to reach. Transportation is such a big problem in Mozambique mainly because people cannot afford. Public transportation only applies to the main road and easy access areas and is expensive to Mozambicans.
Jodi Bloss, SIM Missionary, Mozambique
After 3 months of daily use the performance of the vehicle has been really good. No repairs until the moment. Its power is enough for the work we employ it. It is a small vehicle, economic, of great utility for agricultural farms. The farmers that are producing for the market can acquire them because they are cheaper than conventional transportations. The vehicle can access roads & farms that the big trucks cannot. Improvements: offer a cabin and agricultural attachments (implements), and vehicle classification.
Damaris Amador, World Vision, Honduras
“Yes, it’s been very helpful so far, and will only get more useful. We have used it mostly for transporting heavy items within the camp…We have also used it for hauling several large coolers full of ice water to our guests that use the camp conference center. Next month we have two work teams coming from the US that will help us in the ongoing construction of this ministry.
Having the BUV will be a tremendous help as we transport tools, cold water, and any number of things in those weeks of hard work!… It is now performing well and no repairs have been required. The power is usually more than sufficient, but there are certain hills on the camp property that require a good running start.”
Wes Williamson, Latin American Mission, Honduras
“…the BUV has helped tremendously in hauling cement, sand, lumber and tools for our construction projects.”
Cris Garcia, Bethshean Mexico Mission, Mexico
“We did enjoy using the BUV, which saved us a lot of time transporting the block that we knocked out to the garbage pile in the back. The BUV sped up the renovation process which will enable more Africans to stay at the Phare and learn about the Bible in French.”
David Froese, Senegal Mission
The BUV is an exceptional product and I know from first hand experience that it is a tremendous help to the boys at Flor Azul.
John Godt, Hope for Honduras Children Foundation
“The BUV is a fascinating piece of machinery.”
Roger Engle, House of Hope, Honduras
